Description

A large black cockatoo with black crest stands in profile perched on a branch, facing to the left. The print appeared in an early natural history book, the image pirated from George Barrington's early work on New South Wales. This bird is the largest of the cockatoos measuring 65 to 75 cm (about 25 to 30 inches) long. 3 3/4 x 5 3/4". Hand colored copper engraving, slt. toned at edges, o/w very good.
