Description

5 x 7.25" oval mounted on card with gilt border, measuring 10 x 8". Wearing his uniform, his bowie knife in his belt, sheath in his right hand and his sword drawn in his left hand. The picture was framed with another behind it, a reproduction of a W.H. Lister portrait of a beautiful woman with a dog, and the verso states "2 pictures of S.J. Austin ( ) Dr. H.O. Austin". Henry O. Austin is listed in the American Civil War Research Database as having enlisted at Centreville, VA as a Private into "E" Co., VA 19th Infantry.
