Pierson, Lemuel to John Dayton. Montauk, Long Island Cattle Rights, 1784. Manuscript deed from Lemuel Pierson of Southampton, L.I. to John Dayton. Part of the early history of shared cattle rights of Long Island's early settlers. Community pasturage was held jointly for over 200 years, some saying that America's first cowboys were from Long Island. Folio, written in ink, signed 3 times, also written summary of deed on verso.
