Presented by John Cosgrove on title page.. Major exhibition catalogue of American decorative and fine arts of this period, with many high-quality examples. Includes furniture, silver, ceramics, glass, wallpaper & textiles, lamps, stoves & clocks, as well as the fine arts. 76 paintings listed; Fine Arts section written by William Gerdts, 45pp; Furniture, Silver, Ceramics, Glass, Wallpaper & Textiles, and Lamps, Stoves and Clocks. Berry B. Tracy wrote the section on Decorative Arts. The first scholarly approach to defining this period, followed over twenty years later by the exhibit at the Baltimore Museum. White cloth over boards in very good + condition.

Orig. black cloth, gilt title, in excellent condition, with a plain brown paper wrapper (orig?). Prelims a little foxed o/w excellent condition. This is one of the best surveys of European ironwork and shows many wonderful examples of gates, grilles, railings, window and doorway work, fencing, skylights, etc., mostly from Germany, Spain, France and Italy, but also from England, Austria and a few of the eastern European countries.
