Around the World ... A Geography Painting Book for Children.

New York: Gaines Thurman, Ca. 1920. A World War I painting and coloring book for children, features the "R. M. S. Aquitania", one of the most elegant of the Cunard Line's express liners which was converted to hospital duty in the Dardanelles Campaign, and a geographical illustration showing a bird's eye view of the entire Gallipoli and the region.

With full page color illustrations at the left hand page, with a duplicate b&w image at the right page for water color or coloring. The first illustration features the "R. M. S. Aquitania", the third in Cunard Line's "grand trio" of express liners, known as "Ship Beautiful". Her maiden voyage took place in May 1914; by the spring of 1915 and the advent of World War I, she was converted into a trooper, and made voyages to the Dardanelles, where she became a hospital ship.

Other illustrations include: the Western Front During the World War; Rheims Cathedral under Bombardment; the Tower of London; A Cunarder at the Liverpool Docks; the "Gallipoli Front"; double spread map of the world with Cunard Line routes drawn in red; the rock of Gibraltar; Volcano of Vesuvius; Colosseum in Rome; the Great Sphinx at Gizeh; the pyramids and Nile River; Jerusalem from Mount of Olives; and Sky Line of New York City.

Oblong 4to, 28 pp, 14 full page illustrations. Illustrated printed stiff paper wrappers, staple bound. A bit marked at front wrapper; internally, the Aquitania blank page with light blue and yellow crayon marks. OCLC: 122418787 records only Columbia University holding a copy. Not found on Trove.
