Considerations Sur l'Ordre de Cincinnatus, ou Imitation d'un Pamphlet Anglo-American.

J. Johnson, London 1784, 1st edition. 8vo, entirely uncut, original Dutch marbled wrappers, back strip missing, lt. general foxing. There are 2 issues of this work. The first (this copy) is collated xii + 203pp. The 2nd is extended to 385pp by a translation of Price's "Observations on the Importance of the American Revolution". Sabin 49393 does not mention the first issue. The "Order of the Cincinnati" was considered inimical to American principles, and this rare piece gives Mirabeau's views on the subject. It was not allowed to be printed in Paris. Item #10515
