Ballarat: Bardwell, 1870. Three albumen photographs of Ballarat, bird's eye views, with 'Bardwell Photo Ballarat' stamped at the right hand margin of each photograph, ca. 1870. The first, with Main Street showing the broad avenue with trees at the median, and horse drawn wagons pulled up. Shop signs at the right side of the avenue include: Proctor Coach Builder, Gibbings Livery Stables & Carriage Repository, and Bardwell visible on a storefront sign at the extreme lower right corner. The second photograph showing a broad square with planted center strip; and the third with two important buildings at the lower right, probably the Bank of Australasia, and a train and railroad track in the far distance. Each measures 3 1/2 x 2 5/16", and the three are loosely mounted on a sheet 10x14" Very good. Item #15497
