Departure. Received for Straits Lights - Tolls Collected Under Act XIII of 1854.

Ephemera. A toll paid by the "Tenayson" under Commander Graves on 6th November 1866, bound for Hong Kong. With an original amount for the tonnage and the toll to be paid struck through, and lesser amounts written in. A toll of 14 dollars and 18 cents was paid for the vessel. Signed John Anderson, and beneath his signature, by the Chief Clerk. With text on the verso under the heading "Straits Lights" explaining that after the passing of Act No. XIII of 1854, any ship ... in the possession or under the government of the East India Company, upon or during, or at the termination of any voyage, in the ordinary course of which she would pass any of the said Lights, a Toll shall be paid..." 6 1/4 x 8 1/4". Two horizontal folds; short narrow damp mark at top edge. Very good overall. Item #15766
