Fry later was later honored as the first American to be named “Righteous Among the Nations” by Yad Vashem (Israel’s Holocaust Heroes and Martyrs Remembrance Authority), for his rescue work in 1940 & 1941 in France, in which he succeeded through his American Relief Center in helping many escape from death, including intellectuals who settled in the United States.
