San Francisco: R. J. Trumbull & Co, 1869. Contents include the framing of the Constitution, history of slavery, the acquisition of California, Southern leaders on Reconstruction, and much on the Civil War. A chapter on existing republics of the world in 1869. A rather strange publication which de-emphasizes Lincoln completely. Mentions Women's Rights in an enlightened way - "All the objections now offered against female suffrage upon the score of immodesty and immorality will gradually disappear..." (p.564).
