San Francisco: H. S. Crocker Co, 1898. Charming San Francisco Chinatown hand colored lithograph of a turn of the century street scene, signed J. H. E. Partington at the lower right. Partington was a well known San Francisco portraitist (1843 - 1899), who established a studio and art school on Pine Street, and whose seven children all found careers in the arts. With a grocery shop and fruit stand at the right, the store's awning gracefully draped across the top of the adjoining alleyway; an upstairs balcony with ornate railings is filled with flower pots. 7 x 10" print laid down on 11 x 14" stiff card. Some damp staining at margins of print. Item #17962
