A Chinese Doorway, Chinatown, San Francisco.
San Francisco: H. S. Crocker Co, 1898. Charming San Francisco Chinatown lithograph of a turn of the century building and ornate doorway, signed J. H. E. Partington at the lower right. Partington was a well known San Francisco portraitist (1843 - 1899), who established a studio and art school on Pine Street, and whose seven children all found careers in the arts. With an ornate doorway surmounted with a sign in Chinese characters and a Chinese lantern. Three figures lounge in the doorway. 7 x 10" print laid down at corners on 11 x 14" stiff card. Some damp stains at margins of stiff card. Item #17963
