An India imprint, a folding color map of colonial India, with a handsome b&w lithograph of Government House, Calcutta, with huge procession with elephants parading past the front of the building adorning the cover. Color map with legend at lower left "Reference to the Divisions of India" showing Bengal Presidency, Madras Presidency, Bombay Presidency, and Ceylon. These Presidencies, which by 1858 became Provinces, were the principal trading settlements established by the (British) East India Company, each administered by a Governor. With "British Burmah" to the west. Back cover with advertisements for Indian Series of School maps, Indian Series of English Copy Books, English Dictionaries, and Scholastic Exercise Books. Folded, 6 1/2 x 10". Unfolded, 13 x 13". Short split at lower portion of central fold. Very good condition. Item #18007
