London: 1777. Fine copper engraved head and shoulders portrait of Omai. The portrait was sketched on Captain James Cook's second voyage. The engraving was published in the official journal of the expedition, the only one to be written by Captain Cook himself. Engraved by J. Caldwall. Printed on wove paper, darkening on lower right corner. 7 x 10" plus margins. Very good condition. Item #18851
