Genthe made photographic studies of San Francisco and New York Chinatowns, 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and portraits of noted people, from politicians and socialites to literary figures and entertainment celebrities. Signed by Genthe and Genthe's associate Dorothy Wilcox Newmeyer. Tall 8vo, 50 poems with author's introduction and foreword by Edward Chalmers Werner. Werner describes, "...the purpose of the collection is to give pleasure and demonstrate the universality of the Chinese soul... poems are classed not by dynasty but in groups according to the poet's mood..."
