Mr. G. H. Knight .Swan St., Richmond, Australia, 1881. Floor plans and elevations.

Richmond Australia: 1881. A large architectural drawing for a residence in Richmond, Victoria (Australia), the floor plan showing ground floor and first floor plans, with elevation of the front facade and section, of the shops and residences of an 1881 building at Swan Street. With two separate shops on the ground floor plan, and through to the rear, dining room, stairs, kitchen, scullery and bathrooms, each with a bath tub. The ground floor plan shows two residences, with dining room with fireplace, two bedrooms, stairs and a landing with lavatory, and servants bed room at the very back. The elevation of the facade with the typical bullnose porch, cast iron pillars and decorative ironwork, and at the very top of the building the plaque "Established AD 1881". The section view shows joists on the ground floor made of red gum and joists on the first floor made of "Oregon". The use of red gum joists indicates this is an Australian Victorian building. Plans and elevations in color, with note at right side "this is one of the plans referred to in [illegible] between us, dated 20th June 1881. I am George Henry Knight". 36 1/2 x 24 1/2". Small areas of damp stain at four corners, not affecting the drawings. Very good condition. Item #19593
