London: London Stereoscopic Co., 1882. An advertising card for Pears' Soap with an oval albumen portrait of Lillie Langtry (1853 - 1929), the English actress and producer known as the "Jersey Lily", at age 28, the first woman to endorse a commercial product. The front of the card printed in red, with Langtry's facsimile signature at the bottom. On the verso, the headline "Good Complexion & Nice Hands" with testimonials from Professor Sir Erasmus Wilson, President of the College of Surgeons, England; and from Madame Adelina Patti, with her facsimile signature. The front of the card with a few very small speckles; the verso, a few faint spots not obscuring the text just above the Patti testimonial. The portrait measures 2 1/2 x 3 1/2".
