Folding mailer book order form illustrated with sepia toned printed photographs, including: 'Furthest South -- this picture was taken within 97 geographical miles of the South Pole'; 'The exploring party looking into the crater of Mt. Erebus'; 'A remarkable fumarole in the old crater, in the form of a couchant lion. The men (from the left) are: Mackay, David, Adams, Marshall'. With text describing the Shackleton Expedition, and at the verso, an illustration of penguins, and a reproduction of a watercolor depicting the men with horse and sledge. The order form mailed to a Lt. Col. J. R. Smith in Medford Mass., with a Boston 1910 cancellation stamp. Three horizontal folds, detachable postcard order form at the bottom of the mailer. Slight loss at topmost horizontal fold, only affecting the last letters of 2 words. 10 x 4 1/2" folded; 10 x 16 1/2" unfolded" Very good overall. Item #20352
