The author's father, originally from Manchester, settled in the Upper Brisbane River, and began a run called Cressbrook, which is still in the McConnel family today. The author's mother helped establish the Children's Hospital, and wrote her own pioneer memoir, 'Memories of Days Long Gone By'. This memoir with a chapter on aborigines, titled 'The Blacks'.

8vo, 80pp, frontispiece, 7pp ills. Pictorial dj with title in red on white at front cover and spine. Some slight dusting of unclipped dj, which has the original discount sticker at the lower spine, offering the book for 2/6. Very good condition. Item #2079
