London: John Baskett, 1735. "An Act for rebuilding the Parish Church of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in the county of Middlesex". Shoreditch Church is located at Shoreditch High Street & Hackney Road, London, and is mentioned in a well known nursery rhyme, "Oranges and Lemons". The rebuilding of the London church was necessitated by the 1716 partial collapse of the original medieval tower. The church was rebuilt in Palladian style by George Dance the Elder, with a tall steeple inspired by Christopher Wren, and an imposing columned and pedimented portico. With the first page of the Act, followed by pp671 - 684. A few faint damp marks at foredge, not affecting text. Folio. Very good condition. Item #21296
