Hand colored lithograph of the charge led by General Grant, of Union soldiers in blue storming in bayonet charge an earthworks, one planting a large American flag at the center of the composition, and Rebel soldiers retreating at the right. Grant is seen at the left, in the midst of his troops, on horseback.

Title printed beneath image, "STORMING OF FORT DONELSON, FEBR. 16TH. 1862. Brilliant charge of the 2d. and 4th. Iowa and 11th. and 25th. Indiana Regiments, and Capture of the Rebel Battery previous to the Surrender". Lithography; printer's ink and watercolor on wove paper. Evenly toned, with water stain lightly visible lower quarter of the plate. Title printed more heavily to the left, lighter to the right side. A few small closed tears lower portion barely visible in title below 14 x 10 1/4" Good + overall. Item #21374
