Steel engraved map from the famous Victorian publisher John Tallis, well-known for the attractive vignette views surrounding the maps, which illustrate the peoples & customs of that region. Insets include Auckland, Mount Egmont from New Plymouth, Wellington, a Maori chief and the seal of New Zealand. 10 1/4 wide x 13 3/4". Attractive decorative border around edge using a Maori art motif. Period outline color of the islands. There is light browning around edges, and a couple of light brown marks visible at the upper right. Very light fold line upper left corner, which would be barely visible when mounted. Item #21647
