Paris: Jouet & Brillard, Ca. 1890. Paperback. French printer's sample book for labels for wine & spirits. Each page is illustrated with between one and six label samples attached, a total of 114 labels represented. Most labels are printed in full color, and include examples for wine, rum, vermouth, cognac, cider, calvados, anisette, curacao, beer, vinegar, etc. With about 77 extra labels loosely inserted.
Jouet & Brillard, established in 1851, had a long history as publishers in Paris. They published W.W.I propaganda held in the Imperial War Museum collection, as well as children's puzzles in 1923.
8vo, (2) 44pp, all but one page with sample labels attached, printed on one side only. One label torn on page 2. Original tan printed paper wrapper marked & dusty, with corners creased. Very good internally, good+ wrappers. Item #22548
