Plate 10, from the official report of the voyage, "Voyage de la Corvette L'Astrolabe..." under the command of Jules Dumont D'Urville. The Astrolabe stayed in the Albany area for 18 days, assessing the Sound's suitability as a port and thought it would be a good place to establish a colony, and Dumont D'Urville was surprised that the British had not already done so. Printed on laid paper with wide margins. 13 x 10 1/4" including rule lines and captions. Later tasteful hand color. With blind stamp of the publisher in the lower margin. Very good condition.
