Henry Glenny (1835 -1910) was an Irish born Australian photographer, journalist (known as the Australian Silverpen) public servant and entrepreneur. He contributed to many colonial newspapers and several religious periodicals, and sent sketches on Australian life to Irish papers.
Glenny set up photographic studios in Castlemaine, Ballarat and Kyneton. In Ballarat he was known as a prosperous businessman; he was a successful sales agent for the National Mutual Life Association of Australasia. During an 1887-88 stay in Ireland, Glenny published this work, 'Jottings and Sketches at Home and Abroad'. As justice of the peace it was Glenny who signed the jail book certifying that Ned Kelly was dead by hanging.
