London: Printed for J. Wright, 1798; 1799. Fifth Edition; Third Edition. Hardcover. Two volumes bound in one, in the scarce contemporary binding, of French documents captured in war by the British and Turks during Napoleon's Egypt expedition, and used for propaganda purposes. The letters provided important information on the state of the French army in Egypt, the soldiers' morale, obstacles encountered, and military plans.

The correspondence includes both official letters and reports, and private letters. It includes: Rear Admiral Ganteaume's August 22 account of the Battle of the Nile; Admiral Bruey's letter (July 12) to the Minister of Marine; General Bonaparte's letter (July 27) to General Kleber; and Rear Admiral Ganteaume's (September 2) letter to the commanding generals at Malta which enclosed muster roll of the crews, list of the vessels for the flotilla of the Nile, and the number of seamen on the crews of transports in Alexandria.
The volume includes private letters of desperation sent home to France from soldiers and sailors.
