Eldershaw, who wrote together under the pseudonym M. Barnard Eldershaw. The two Australian literary collaborators Marjorie Barnard (1897–1987) and Flora Eldershaw (1897–1956) worked together from the 1920s through the 1940s, publishing histories, novels, plays, essays, lectures and short stories.

John Piper (1773 - 1851) was a military officer and public servant in New South Wales. He sailed on the convict ship 'Pitt', arriving in Sydney in 1792; the following year he requested to serve at the convict settlement of Norfolk Island, where he later became acting commandant.

Large 4to, xv, 201pp, [3]pp. Original full maroon gilt calf. Spine and front cover gilt. With a color title page vignette, and color plate, illustrated maps at end papers, all by Adrian Feint.
