West Point memory book kept by a Miss Eleanor Davey who's brother was a cadet, 1929-1932.
Providence, RI and West Point, NY: 1932. A large scrap memory book or "A" book gifted to Miss Davey by her brother Ralph Davey Jr. who attended West Point from 1929-1932. Miss Davey filled the book with West Point related ephemera: 24 dance cards from cadet hops, 10 Christmas cards, 4 Valentine's Day cards (two from Frank Ebey and 1 from Edward Cotter), newspaper articles, 43 b&w snapshots, football game tickets, a 32pp booklet for visiting young women entitled, "Week-end Pointers; A Handbook for Army Femmes" in original envelope affixed to page and various other ephemera.
Photographs are of Eleanor's brother's and other cadets' rooms, some of formations, campus buildings, some with handwritten captions. Hop, Christmas and Valentine cards are clean and bright, (hop cards have no writing inside). Newspaper clippings have folds, a handwritten note under the Army v. Yale football tickets reads, "Sheridan had his neck broken." Army cadet Richard Sheridan later died from the injury.
Eleanor's brother Ralph H. Davey, Jr. graduated in 1932 and was initially commissioned as an infantry lieutenant but later transferred to the Quartermaster Corps. He retired as a Colonel.
17 x 12", black board covers with West Point insignia stamped on front, holes on front board where pins, or shields may have been inserted, missing now. Leather thong used as binding cord. Photos attached with corner mounts. Some of the paper pages ruffled at edges, but the ephemera is in very good condition. Very good condition. Item #23966
