The Surgeon's Log: Impressions of the Far East.

New York: Dutton, 1912. Hardcover. This copy belonged to a man who survived the sinking of the Lusitania. The author was a doctor with a bad personal diagnosis and decides to travel the world as a ships' surgeon, written in an engaging style. This copy belonged to Charles T. Jeffrey of Kenosha Wisconsin, a survivor of the Lusitania sinking and includes a letter from him to Mr. Milne of Kenosha. Extensive newspaper clippings, including one of Mr. Jeffery "Survivors who Managerd (sic) to Save a Few Belongings when Lusitania Sank..." The voyage goes from Liverpool England to Penang, through Singapore, Java, Borneo, Celebes to the Philippines & Japan.

Tall 8vo, 338pp, illustrated with b&w photographs throughout. Original blue gilt cloth very slightly sunned, spine tips very slightly rubbed. Very good overall. Item #24220
