Shanghai: November 16, 1926. Pamphlet. A printed menu for a meal given at "The Oriental Hotel, Shanghai, at 12.30 o'clock, on Tuesday, November 16, 1926." Printed in metallic red on the cover and gold on the inside. The menu had 12 courses, printed in English and Chinese. It includes Mushroom Soup Almond Chicken, Mandarin Fish, Minced Pigeon, Friend Shrimps, Roast Duck, Sweet Ham, Sliced Chicken Macaroni, Eight Precious Rice, Fruit, Dessert and Tea. We were not able to find any reference to which American colleges were included in this world tour. In China, the army of the Nationalist Party, led by Chiang Kai-shek (political heir of Sun Yat-sen), marched north in 1926 on the "Northern Expedition" from its base in southern China to establish a new government at Nanking in 1927 and to reunify part of China. This is sometimes called the Nationalist Revolution.
