Melbourne: Chas Steele & Co. Printers, Ca. 1920. Ephemera. An unusual and attractive travel brochure not recorded on Trove. With art deco style poster art covers, the promotional brochure for this hotel features b&w printed photographs of the entrance hall lounge, dining hall, ballroom, view from the Esplanade, the hotel from the Esplanade, Central Railway Station, Melbourne. The Esplanade was one of the largest and most prominent 19th century resort hotels in Victoria, renovated in the early 1920s. Many interior views including the "Winter Garden", sitting room, smoke room, a bedroom, etc. A total of 20 photographic images. Descriptive paragraphs bordered in tan throughout the fold out brochure, which opens to 17 1/4 x 18 1/4", folds to 4 1/2 x 9 1/4".

The deco style color poster art cover image by an unacknowledged artist of two women and a man sitting comfortably in wicker chairs at a table taking tea in a grand room, flanked by potted palms. This scarce advertising brochure has damage with some rubbing at cover fold, a number of stab holes pierce the brochure, some corner separations and closed tears at fold. It is complete however and very scarce. Not found on Trove. Good overall. Item #24349
