The Bijou Almanack for 1845.
London: T. Goode, 8 St. James's Walk, Clerkenwell, 1845. Paperback. The Bijou Almanack was a miniature book series, considered by Spielmann as "a miracle of fine and delicate engraving, done consistently and beautifully to an almost unbelievably tiny scale."
The almanac lists dates, birthdays (of Queen Victoria), festivals, moons & dividends, 3pp of bankers with names & addresses (!). These quite earthly matters are interspersed with images from the Bible (the frontispiece of Samuel, Bears the Cross; Jonah; Infant Jesus; Simeon's Benediction, Samuel & Eli.) "Entered at Stationers' Hall printed on the verso of the frontis. 5/8 x 1 1/8", unnumbered pages, some with slt. creases. Orig. plain black semi-gloss paper wrappers. 5/8 x 1 1/8". Covers with a minor crease, some corners a bit rubbed. Very good overall. Item #24351
