New York: Thomas Longworth, 1827. Hardcover. Copy belonging to Burr & Benedict, leading New York admiralty law firm, who had the Hudson River Steamboat Company among their numerous shipping industry clients.

Numerous wood block illustrated advertisements, including the "New York Drug Mills", the Steam Navigation Company (wood cuts of "the splendid safety barges Lady Clinton and Lady Van Rensselaer"); Peale's New York Museum and Gallery of Fine Arts in the Parthenon (featuring an Egyptian mummy). The most amazing 1820s advertisement for the New York Mirror and Ladies' Literary Gazette edited by George P. Morris is printed in a block of differing type fonts and decorative devices.

Much information on banks, insurance companies, government offices, businesses, and streets listings. The directory contains the names of thousands of New York City residents, with their addresses and occupations.
