The account of the first ever aerial circumnavigation of the globe, which began on April 4th, 1924 when four Douglas World Cruisers (Seattle, Chicago, Boston, and New Orleans) took off from Santa Monica, California. They were flown by a team of aviators from the US Army Air Service, the precursor to the US Air Force. The feat was accomplished when they landed in Seattle 175 days, and over 27,000 miles later.
