Scott ill fated expedition to the South Pole lasted from 1910 to 1913. Number 9 of a limited edition of 400 copies, printed in 1996.

This bold b&w image shows the ship alongside an ice shelf, with an enormous piece of ice at the left, the extreme white of the ice contrasting powerfully with the almost black rigging of the doomed ship.

Image 16 x 12", paper 20 x 16". The Ponting Collection embossed stamp at lower right corner. Verso with stamp, "Popperfoto: this print is limited to 400 copies of which this is no 9. Copyright date 1996" Very good + condition. Item #24428
