Large printed color chromolithograph depicting a group of Victorian bathing beauties cavorting in the surf, very much in the style of Charles Dana Gibson, in cinch-waisted swimming costumes, their luxuriant hair tied up with colorful ribbons. Printed signature at the lower left. Four lines of verse are printed below the title.

Charles Howard Johnson (1867 – 1896) was an American illustrator noted for his illustrations in the 1890 American edition of ' The Princess' by Alfred Lord Tennyson.
Johnson illustrated books and created art for magazines such as Life, Truth, and Munsey's Magazine.

Image 18 x 12"; paper size 19 1/4 x 13 3/4"; printed on heavy textured paper stock. Minor pin pricks at corners otherwise bright and clean. Very good condition. Item #24525
