Edinburgh: 1838-1839. A pair of engraved class tickets made out to Thomas E. Stallybrass. The first, for Anatomy, is signed Robert Hunter, and certifies Stallybrass's attendance from 1st Nov 1838 to April 1839. Robert Hunter is possibly a member of the famed Hunter medical family of Glasgow.
The second card is signed by M. S. Buchanan, for the Medical School at Portland Street, a course in practical anatomy taken from the 1st of May to the 1st of August 1839. Buchanan, highly respected, taught anatomy at the Portland Street school from 1836 to 1841. He began his medical studies in 1812 and died in 1860.
Both cards engraved in a variety of fonts. Printed on heavy card stock. 4 1/2 x 3". The class card with Hunter signature with small area of toning, but still perfectly legible. Very good overall. Item #24632
