London: 1810. A handsome playbill advertising performances of "As You Like It' and "The Blind Boy", with "the Historick Pantomime Drama called La Perouse; Or, the Desolate Island".
"La Perouse or the Desolate Island" was a fictional play concerning the fate of the French explorer who charted Botany Bay in Australia and was shipwrecked in the Solomon Islands. In the play a crafty chimpanzee puts an end to a plot by natives against de La Perouse, and the family safely returns to France.
The play is "continuing to be received with the biggest applause, will be repeated on Monday".
