Hardcover. Album recording meeting minutes, club officers, newspaper articles on the club, member records, members target scores, and lists of member payments due to this Westchester County rifle club.
The Rifle Club was founded in 1916; a newspaper clipping included here appeals to new members: "It's not strange that the fondness for the rifle is ingrained in the normal American, for the rifle and the axe in the hands of our pioneer ancestors laid the foundation of American liberty and civilization. The ability of our citizens to shoot straight has proved a mighty bulwark of our national life". (Daily Union, March 29, 1916).
Made up of manuscript minutes including those of March 31, 1916 which record the approved motion for the Peekskill Club to affiliate with the National Rifle Association. Other notes pertain to the locale for target practice; Congressman Husted gives his consent for the use of his property at Annsville Creek for a rifle range; and the Ladies Rifle Club petitions to join.
The 50 pages of minutes and records concluding with March 24, 1923. The early records are handwritten, the later ones typed and tipped in.
