Delvalle Lowry (1800 - 1859) was a female British geologist, mineralogist and author, who popularized mineralogy for a general audience with this, her first book. Lowry and her father engraved the illustrations for the book from their original sketches. 8vo, xi, 270pp, folding plates. Brown paper covered stiff boards, cover detached but present, original paper label at spine. Spine cracked and chipped; internally, plates ruffled at edges. Good + condition. Item #24856
