Item #24886 Flapper clipping Cupid's wings. Original pen and ink illustration. Bradford.

Flapper clipping Cupid's wings. Original pen and ink illustration.

1914. A spirited pen and ink color sketch of a young flapper in a diaphanous pink gown, hair upswept in a pile of curls and wearing dramatic eye makeup, happily clipping the wings of a dark haired young Cupid.

This is an early flapper image-- the 1920s saw the arrival of the first generation of independent American women. With gold high lighting throughout including the flapper's long stranded necklace, her high heeled shoes, the stool she is perched on and the circular design element in the background.

A cheerful vision of a young flapper in charge of her own love life! 9 x 12 3/4" Very good condition. Item #24886
