1951-52. A photo album of Army publicity photos with typewritten captions on verso and some related snapshots during the Korean War in 1951-52. Featured is the Wolfhound's Den, the command post of the 27th Infantry Regiment ("The Wolfhounds"), 25th Infantry Division commanded by Col. John Michaelis. His group held the lead offensive position during Operation Wolfhound, which is reputed to have begun the turnaround for earlier U.N. troops that had been repeatedly pushed back by the North Koreans at Pusan.

Includes images of Hollywood movie actress Betty Hutton and other performers in front of a sign for "Wolfhound's Den", and an army shot of Col. John H. Michaelis. Michaelis was a USMA graduate, served as aide-de-camp to Dwight Eisenhower from 1947-8, and retired as a 4 star general in 1972. He returned to the U.S. to be commandant of cadets at USMA at West Point in 1952.

Also featured in the photographs are the 25th US Infantry Division, 25th Signal Corp, 24th Infantry Regiment, 35th infantry regiment, 27th infantry division, 35th infantry regiment and the 241st Turkish Regiment.

In total, 74 photographs, housed in a ring binder with the title: "United State Army Ft. Indiantown Gap" printed on front.
8 - snapshots 3.5 x 5" paratroopers training, jumping and landing;
60 - 4 x 5" U.S. Army photos of the Korean War, with photos of entertainers Betty Hutton, Monica Lewis, Toni Ross, USO shows, Western Jamboree SS Roadshow, 25th Infantry Division Band. Officers visiting the Turkish Brigade, Turkish troops, Thanksgiving ceremony, Chinese Communist prisoners, foxholes, flame-throwers, injured soldiers, dated 1951 and 1952;
6- 8 x 10" photographs of civilians visiting planes at A.A.F day at "M-field", "F.B. Field" and the USS Missouri. The Missouri was commissioned in 1944, site of the surrender of Japan at end of W.W.II, in Korea from 1950-53.

Snapshots somewhat toned, 2 images partially rubbed at the corners into the image. Other army images clean and bright, some are browned but still very clear. Very good overall. Item #24966
