WW II Japanese propaganda leaflet, "Hey! You diggers! He came, he saw, he conquered!"

Japan: Ca. 1942. Full color leaflet dropped by the Japanese on Australian troops in New Guinea and surrounding islands.

The illustration drives home the point that the defense of New Guinea is not worth dying for. It depicts an American soldier kissing an Australian woman, while in the foreground Australian troops lie dead or wounded on a battlefield. The text helpfully explains, "Thinking you "diggers" will never come back alive, tha BLACKS and tha YANKS are raping your wives, your daughters, your sweethearts -- they're helpless without your protection. ..."
