Weir, the scarce "Evening Scene in the Highlands, NY" (p305). Robert Weir was a Hudson River artist and long-time instructor (1834 - 1876) at West Point. The view was engraved on steel by James Smillie, a noted bank note engraver, whose engravings are especially fine. Also includes 2 steel engravings of Washington's Monument at Baltimore by T. K. Wharton, engraved by James Smillie (engraved half title & p416).
