Ca. 1880. Four images from an American west coast trip. The Cliff House suffered its first fire in 1894 when it was still a single story, with multiple horse drawn buggies out front. The Market Street image looks toward the water with trams, horse drawn buggies and buildings on either side. Building signs include: Haskell; Carpets cloths & furniture; Fancy millinery, goods, pocket cutlery, perfumery; Standard Scales.
"Mount Rainier from Tacoma W.T." shows a scene overlooking a river with rocky shores with Mount Rainier in the distance. Mount Hood from the Dalls is taken overlooking a lake with a wharf and the Steamship "Alida" in the foreground. No identifying marks of a photographer.
Single page from an album, with 4 photographs (8 1/8 x 4 3/4") laid down on thick stock. (9 x 11 3/4"). Card stock somewhat rippled, photograph edges slightly faded. Otherwise very good condition. Item #25079
