Boston: 1862. Mr. [Albany] Fonblanque visits the Great Wall of China around the time of the Taiping Rebellion - describes his visit, as well as the desolation to the Chinese country, a pawn brokers shop was looted and the "sacred proceeds from Yuen-ming-yuen and the Llama Temple are for sale 'at exorbitant prices in Tien-tsin." Albany Fonblanque was an English journalist and a 'reformer' of the journalism profession.

Various Civil War news announcements: The Capture of Biloxi; Battle of Mill Springs; Fort Pulaski reported evacuated by Rebels;Trouble Among Rebel Generals (Kentucky); Rebels 6000 strong at Fort Henry; No Arrival from Burnside's Expedition (Fort Monroe).
