A copy belonging to Ranji, with 3 ownership marks: his engraved bookplate front free end paper; signed “Maharaja Jam sahib of Nawanagar, February 1923, Staines" on the facing page; and his heraldic bookplate inside the back cover. The engraved bookplate reads "Maharaja Jam Shri Sir Ranjitsinhi Vibhaji, G.B.D., K.C.S.I". The heraldic bookplate inside back cover- “The Maharajah Jam Sahib of Nawanagar Jamnagar”.

Ranjitsinhji (1872 - 1933), often known as Ranji, was one of the finest batsmen of all time, and the first Indian cricketer to have played for England and Sussex.
