Early congregants also set up the first free schools in the city, which eventually became the NY Public School System.
Each volume with a list of members (November 1877 and January 1882). Notable members include Oliver Wolcott (signer of the Declaration of Independence), Archibald Gracie (owner of Gracie Mansion, mayoral residence), and a New York slave, Betsey Jackson.
