Australia: 1912. A postcard with a printed design of a green gum leaf on front and a raised metal kookaburra attached to the surface, with gilt maps of Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain chained together, with text. "Greetings sincere I send, and true, To let you know I am thinking of you;..."
The postcard is hand addressed to Dr. Arpad Gerther in New York City, from a Dr. Thomas Frasxxx of Sydney 149 (unreadable street). Gerther was a Hungarian of Swiss descent who emigrated to the US in 1873. He had a long and illustrious career at Mount Sinai Hospital (who retain his papers) and a professor of Clinical Surgery at Columbia Medical School. It is addressed to East 75th street, where he moved his practice in 1896.
A used divided back postcard although there is no stamp or franking. 3 X 5", metal bird tarnished otherwise very good condition. See Trove 259289782. Very good condition. Item #25855
