[Victoria]: Ca. 1890. An original watercolor of the Australasian robin by Cayley, sometimes called the premier bird painter of the colonies. The image shows a male scarlet robin perched on a branch, ready to pounce on a fly on a blade of grass. A pale blue wash fills the sky. Signed "Neville Cayley" in the lower right corner.
Painted on paper 8 1/4 x 11", backed on artist's paper.
